Day the Earth Still Stood

A suave guy from space, friend not foe
Klaatu, said “baRada, nik-Toe”
In peace he came, but
Was shot in the gut
Seems Earth had enough at “Hello” *

Hugh Marlowe? From space? I think not!
Mike Rennie was cast in that spot.
Hugh dated Pat Neal
Was exposed as a heel
And quickly was dropped from the plot!

D'oh! Of COURSE it was. I must have been sleepy. Or on crack. Or sleepy while doing crack. Gah!

Very funny limerick correction, though. At least I know you're out there. That's it--I was testing you.

Thanks to my crack readers (not my crack -smoking self), I’ve corrected my first, and errant version of this limerick. The laughable original version follows.

Day the Earth Still Stood

“Klaatu, then “baRada, nik-Toe”
Said suave guy from space, Hugh Marlowe
In peace he came, but
Was shot in the gut
Seems Earth had enough at “Hello”

To our world came that Klaatu galoot
Unannounced, in a silvery suit
His spring-loaded gadget
Was bound to cause agit
Any wonder the soldiers would shoot?
