When Lady Godiva went riding
She displayed dreamy thighs she'd been hiding
At the bombshell a creep
Name of Tom took a peep
I'm afraid with no eyes he'll need guiding.
Maureen O'Hara lets down her hair as Lady Godiva of Coventry (Arthur Lubin,1955). In this version of the tale, Peeping Tom is blinded by Victor McLaglen's flaming torch. Title by pallid rider David Cairns, whose write-up of an earlier, silent film version of the story inspired this limerick. You'll find it here at his blog, Shadowplay.
