    That subterranean quality really is particular to Ulmer, from his first film, The Black Cat, to his last, The Cavern.

    You're right David. Ulmer's films have a uniquely odd quality about them. Subterranean, and often claustrophobic. The latter would certainly apply to The Cavern.
