Have Pun, Will Travel

Brochures on the islands extol
vacations on tropic atoll
Though all mention beaches
not one of them teaches
that zombies at midnight will stroll

A nurse travels to a Caribbean island in I Walked With a Zombie (Jacques Tourneur, 1943). Stay tuned for more zombies as we venture into Val Lewton and Jacques Tourneur territory in the Countdown to Halloween.

  1. A zombie don't walk, he just shuffles
like snouts on a pig hunting truffles
    No fashion sense has he
    No glamorous, snazzy
    tuxedos with shirts bearing ruffles

  2. At passersby zombies will lunge
and into their grey matter plunge
    Though brains are their passion
    they once were in fashion
The 'look' they created was grunge

  3. A zombie, quite by acci-dent,
    was almost our next presi-dent
    He had to resign
    because of a sign
    that brain matter was evi-dent

  4. The tea party members, it's said
don't like where we're all being lead
    It's not that they're dumb
    their brains are just numb
    from following Reagan, who's dead

  5. I meant "led", of course. I think I ate too many lead paint chips as a child.
